WVU welcomes students to explore veterinary medicine at annual career day

Attendees and students interact with veterinary medicine professionals at Veterinary Career Day.MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Considering a path in veterinary medicine? Students from across the region are invited to join the West Virginia University Davis-Michael Scholars and the West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association for the 15th annual Veterinary Career Day.

This educational event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, at the Erickson Alumni Center in Morgantown.

The session will feature a series of short presentations from a variety of veterinary professionals and will allow attendees to interact one-on-one with presenters and educators. Faculty from the WVU Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources will be present to discuss the Davis-Michael Scholars program.

An overview of the West Virginia Veterinary School Contract system for West Virginia residents also will be presented.

The free event is open to students in middle school through college interested in learning more about veterinary medicine. Parents, high school teachers, counselors, college advisers and local veterinarians also can attend.

Registration forms must be completed online by September 11 and can be found at DavisMichael.wvu.edu. All attendees and accompanying parents or guests must register individually.

The Davis-Michael Scholars program was made possible through a generous bequest from two Morgantown sisters, Gladys Gwendolyn Davis and Vivian Davis Michael, who desired to foster quality veterinary care in West Virginia. The Davis-Michael Scholars program was established to support the pre-veterinary medicine major Animal and Nutritional Sciences and has awarded more than 9 million dollars in student scholarships since 2001.

If you have questions related to the event, contact Renee Conneway (Renee.Conneway@mail.wvu.edu) or the Davis-Michael Scholars team (davismichael@mail.wvu.edu).
