Bird Banding

School of Natural Resources and the Environment

This project is a bird banding project in the WVU Core Arboretum and Pricketts Fort State Park, with more locations to be added. Banding takes place on weekends from an hour before sunrise to about five/six hours after sunrise. This project is in early development, with the goal of banding to gather data on avian survival and reproduction. Volunteers will start by assisting with scribing and setup/takedown of nets, then will be introduced to extracting birds from the net, and eventually introduced to banding and collecting measurements.
