Inspired by her mom and aunt, who both attended the Davis College, Wiles’ passion for agriculture began through her involvement in 4-H and FFA. At WVU, she has found a close-knit community while becoming involved in organizations such as Sigma Alpha, Collegiate 4-H, and WVU Ducks Unlimited, where she serves as vice president.

This past summer, Wiles interned with the WVU State Extension office, an experience that allowed her to give back to the organization that helped shape her. Working alongside Extension professionals strengthened her interest in youth development and provided valuable insight into a future career in Extension education.

Outside of class, Wiles enjoys connecting with others through student organizations, conservation initiatives and campus events. She also enjoys expressing her creative side through social media, design projects, and embroidery. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a master’s degree and continue a career dedicated to hands-on learning and serving communities across West Virginia and beyond.

“I feel very at home here, but I also feel like growing up in West Virginia and being in the Davis College has broadened my horizons that it’s always okay to leave, but I’m still able to come back home because West Virginia will always be home.” - Laken Wiles
