Graduate Certificate Requirement

Steps to complete a Graduate Certificate in the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design

If you are completing a certificate in addition to a concurrent graduate degree:

  • In collaboration with your major advisor and/or the certificate coordinator, and within the restrictions of the program in which you are admitted, determine the courses that you will be required to complete for your certificate.  All Graduate Certificates require a minimum of 15 credits, only 6 of which can be shared with any other degree program. http://catalog.wvu.edu/graduate/advisingcoursesdegrees/.  It is recommended that you hold a committee meeting to discuss these courses.

  • Submit your Plan of Study for approval: https://www.davis.wvu.edu/current-students/graduate/plans-of-study.  Please use the indicated form to upload your course list (link needed). This should be submitted within the first semester of your certificate.  Note – there are two Plans of Study, one for your certificate and one for your concurrent graduate degree if your concurrent graduate degree is housed within the Davis College.

  • Complete courses for the certificate in which you are enrolled.

If you are completing a certificate alone:

  • In collaboration with the certificate coordinator, and within the restrictions of the program in which you are admitted, determine the courses that you will be required to complete for your certificate.  All Graduate Certificates require a minimum of 15 credits, only 6 of which can be shared with any other degree program. http://catalog.wvu.edu/graduate/advisingcoursesdegrees/.
