Davis College Store Manager

Joe Woods is the Business Manager for The Davis College Store and Rural Business Incubator at West Virginia University (WVU), an education-based storefront and greenhouse, where WVU student entrepreneurs, employees and alumni are able to incubate products and ideas alongside West Virginia made artisanal products; and current Davis College students learn about entrepreneurship, developing rural businesses, operating a retail business and the skills involved in successful business operations via student employment and independent study projects. 

Joe oversees business operations, student mentorship, the curation of retail and incubator products, and assists with undergraduate research projects through the store. The mission of the Davis College Store is to create economic opportunity for West Virginians by educating, supporting and encouraging student entrepreneurship and rural small business in our state; through connection, promotion and engagement. 

Prior to his position at WVU, Joe built extensive professional experience in foodservice management, food sales, marketing, hospitality education and entrepreneurship. He studied Foodservice Management at Pierpont Community and Technical College and earned a Regents Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Joe received a Master of Professional Studies in Food Business from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, where his graduate work focused on Business Administration and Food Systems.
