Benjamin McKeen

Benjamin McKeen is a recreation, parks and tourism resources major from Clarksburg, West Virginia.

What book would you recommend and why?

Ranger Confidential by Andrea Lankford because she writes about what it is really like to work in America's national parks - the good and the bad.

What is your favorite quote?

"The world is big and I want to get a good look at it before it gets dark." - John Muir

What do you love most about your major?

It gives me the chance to work outdoors and to teach people about nature as well.

Career goals?

I plan to be an interpretive ranger with the National Parks Service.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy anything that gets me outside - hiking, backpacking and even pickup soccer and basketball.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Go to class and be ready to put in a lot of hard work.

What is a cause you're passionate about?

I am passionate about conservation and teaching people about it. I want to help protect the natural world and I think educating the general public is the best way to do that.
