Dr. Eick von Ruschkowski is the Director of the Alfred Toepfer Academy for Nature Conservation of Lower Saxony in Germany. The Academy is a training and research facility that targets professionals in the field of nature conservation and natural resource management. One of the Academy’s main objectives is to provide science-based knowledge to improve conservation management. Dr. von Ruschkowski holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Planning with specific expertise in protected area management and conservation social sciences. Previous positions include academic research at Leibniz University Hannover and NGO management at Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU). He is a member of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and also member of several other conservation-related councils, providing expert advice.
