Ways to Contribute
Priorities of Need
Your contribution to the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences will immediately yield results by assisting our efforts to maintain the rich and diverse academic experiences which have traditionally been part of our college.
Our students learn by doing, whether that’s in the classroom, laboratory, studio, farm or forests. Individual experiences define the Davis College. It’s a rewarding process to watch, and it’s thrilling to see the results in the form of our successful alumni.
At the same time, providing our students with exceptional learning opportunities is a costly process. With extensive facilities, varied programs and a faculty committed to staying on the cutting edge of their disciplines, the Davis College must seek private support for the following priorities:
Student Enrichment
Our students are the first priority at the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences.
The Davis College embarks on a journey every semester to reach out to each student by providing numerous opportunities both in and out of the classroom. Private resources provide student scholarships in excess of $300,000 annually to approximately 30% of all undergraduate students enrolled in the College.
Guest speakers, panel discussions, study travel, internships and student organizations are just a few of the many activities that enrich our educational environment.

Faculty Enhancement
Without our faculty the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences would not be where we are today. Our teacher-scholars work hard to provide not only innovative education for our students, but cutting-edge research and service to the community, their disciplines, and the State of West Virginia.
Unfortunately, we are faced with a critical issue regarding our mid-career faculty. Private resources are needed to supplement the Davis College’s efforts to retain and reward those faculty members who are strong and productive, but are at a point in their career when offers from other institutions often lure them away.
By providing extra resources for equipment, professional development, and travel opportunities the Davis College will be able to retain this important faculty contingent and ensure that the next generation of faculty leaders will be enriched.

Farm & Forest Stewardship Initiative
Students in the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences are not confined to the classroom. Through the years, our students have gained unique educational experiences when their professors have utilized WVU’s vast farm and forest holdings.
It is essential to our heritage and educational mission that we preserve and sustain our living laboratories for future generations of students. As WVU has experienced severe cutbacks in state and federal allocations over the last decade, the Davis College has been forced to institute a deferred maintenance policy for our facilities.
With an infusion of private resources, the College’s maintenance and improvement plan will receive an essential boost allowing for the refurbishment and purchase of critical operational items for our facilities.
Help immediately by designating your contribution to the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences Dean’s Fund 2U047. The establishment of endowed and non-endowed funds designated for specific properties is needed to aid this effort. Contact us for details and options.
