Today, students gain practical knowledge and skills outside the classroom using 3,425 acres of farmland and 8,134 acres of forest for teaching and research. The Davis College annually awards more than $250,000 in scholarships.
Academic advising is conducted by Davis College faculty members.

Extra curricular activities abound with 6 honor societies and 22 clubs and organizations.

The Greenhouse, Dairy, Natural Resources Analysis Center, and Rumen Fermentation Laboratory provide additional opportunities for learning and study, and provide valuable community service.

Undergraduate students are frequently recognized as WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors. Student organization chapters are recognized as among the best by their counterparts.

The Davis College houses 5 divisions: Animal and Nutritional Sciences, Design and Merchandising, Plant and Soil Sciences, Forestry and Resource Management, with varied programs of study and multiple degree options.

  • The Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design is the University’s oldest Academic Unit. WVU was originally known as the WV Agricultural College.
  • In 1894 the first experiment farm was purchased at Morgantown. The 81 acre farm cost the state $3,900.

  • In September of 2001 the college was renamed the Davis College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Sciences in honor of two Morgantown sisters, Gladys Gwendolyn Davis and Vivian Davis-Michael for their $18.4 million gift.
